Your Simple Guide to Getting a Marriage License in Miami

Planning your wedding should feel exciting, not confusing. Before your ceremony takes place, one of the most important steps is making sure you have a valid Florida marriage license. Couples getting married in Miami-Dade County can begin by completing the online marriage license pre-application and then visiting an approved Clerk location to complete the process. Both applicants generally need to be present and provide valid government-issued identification, along with any other information required for their situation. Florida marriage licenses can be used for ceremonies anywhere in the state, making the process convenient for couples planning a Miami wedding, destination ceremony, or intimate elopement.

Know What to Expect Before Your Miami Wedding Ceremony

Understanding the marriage license process ahead of time can help your wedding day feel smoother and more relaxed. Florida residents are generally subject to a three-day waiting period unless they qualify for a waiver through an approved premarital preparation course, while non-Florida residents are exempt from that waiting period. Once issued, the marriage license must be used within 60 days, and after the ceremony it must be returned to the Miami-Dade County Marriage License Bureau within the required timeframe. Because requirements and fees may change, couples should always confirm the latest information directly with the Miami-Dade Clerk before applying. Beablessed Matrimony can then help you focus on the most meaningful part of the experience—celebrating your commitment with a ceremony that feels personal, heartfelt, and unforgettable.
